Weil is representing Willis Re, a specialist international reinsurance broker backed by WTW and Bain Capital, in its definitive agreement to acquire the U.S. reinsurance division of BMS Group (BMS Re, US), including BMS Intermediaries Inc. and BMS Capital Advisory LLC, as well as the associated U.S. reinsurance broking team based in London.
BMS Re, US is a leading independent reinsurance platform in the U.S., offering bespoke reinsurance and capital solutions with local market expertise and a strong client base across regional and super-regional carriers, and MGA and programs.
The acquisition provides a strong platform to accelerate Willis Re’s geographic growth, enhance its existing capabilities and diversify into new lines of business. By establishing an operational presence in the U.S., the transaction substantially expands Willis Re’s international footprint and positions the business to participate in the world’s largest insurance market.
