Melinda Root
Melinda Root is an associate in Weil’s Corporate Department and is based in Silicon Valley. Melinda participates in the representation of public and private companies and private equity firms in a variety of transactional matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, equity investments and divestitures.

Melinda has been part of the teams advising:

  • Clearhaven Partners in its acquisition of Wowza Media Systems, LLC
  • Genstar Capital in its acquisitions of Abracon LLC and The SEER Group LLC; and Arrowhead Electrical Products in its acquisition of Bihr
  • Getty Images Inc. in its acquisition of Motorsport Images
  • Gores Holdings VI, Inc., a SPAC sponsored by The Gores Group, in its $2.9 billion business combination with Matterport, Inc.
  • PSP in its investment in National Resilience Inc.

Previously, Melinda was an associate in Weil’s Patent Litigation practice, where she had experience with district court patent litigation involving a variety of technologies, including video streaming services, Internet and networking technologies and DNA sequencers.

Melinda earned her J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law, where she served as a Staff Editor of the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal. Melinda received her B.S. in Physics from the University of Virginia. While in law school, she served as an intern to the Honorable H. Christopher Mott of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas.
