Andrew Lauder is counsel in the London office.

Andrew is a derivatives and structured finance specialist, with a particular focus on TRS and repo linked funding structures, synthetic securitisations, CLOs and bespoke repackaging transactions. He also has significant experience advising banks and sponsors on the hedging aspects of financings (infrastructure and leveraged finance), including deal contingent hedging, as well as workouts of derivatives portfolios in distressed scenarios.

In addition to his transactional practice, Andrew also advises on derivatives regulation and related market initiatives in Europe, including benchmarks reform and IBOR transition, bespoke netting arrangements and ISDA based collateral documentation.

Andrew is ranked as a leading lawyer for Derivatives and Structured Products in Legal 500 with clients describing him as “very knowledgeable in the derivative space”. They also praise him for his “clear explanation of the products and the market positions” stating he is “really great to have on our side”.

Prior to joining Weil, Andrew was a senior associate at a Magic Circle law firm.

  • A private fund on a repo facility with a European bank to finance a portfolio of loans and bonds
  • CVC on deal contingent hedging in connection its acquisition of a stake in the French Football league
  • Advent International and its portfolio companies on the hedging aspects of various acquisitions and financings, including the take private of Cobham plc
  • Bain Capital on hedging in connection with the financing for Valeo and Kantar
  • Apollo and Redding Ridge on their European CLOs
  • Antin Infrastructure Partners on hedging for its acquisition of Pulsant Ltd.; the refinancing of Solvtrans; the refinancing of Kellas Midstream
  • iCON Infrastructure on hedging for its acquisition financing of Choice Care Group and Vanguard Healthcare Solutions
  • A syndicate of hedge counterparties to APG Asset Management in connection the financing of its acquisition of Brisa, Portugal’s largest toll road operator
