HOUSTON, AUGUST 15, 2023: International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that prominent energy industry dealmaker Cody Carper has joined the Firm as a partner in the Corporate Department, based in the Houston office.

The addition of Cody reflects Weil’s continued investment in its top-tier Texas energy practice and supports the Firm’s ongoing efforts to be at the forefront of advising on ESG, sustainability and environmental issues. Earlier this year, notable energy partners Omar Samji and Chris Bennett joined Weil’s Houston office.

Cody focuses on complex energy and infrastructure transactions, including representing private equity sponsors and management teams in acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas assets, energy financings and joint venture transactions. He also has experience with multiple forms of transition energy, including carbon capture.

Cody joins from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP where he was a partner in the corporate practice, focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and energy and infrastructure. Earlier in his career, he served as the assistant general counsel for a large privately held energy company, where he developed extensive experience in operational issues and executive leadership.
