Leading Partner to Join Weil’s Preeminent Private Equity Team in London

LONDON, April 8, 2025: International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that Simon Saitowitz will join the firm as a partner in its leading Private Equity Practice.

Simon represents sponsor clients and their portfolio companies with a special focus on secondaries and asset manager transactions. He has deep experience in complex GP-led transactions in both single asset and multi-asset portfolios and advises on preferred equity financings and other structured secondary transactions. He was an early pioneer in developing portfolio liquidity techniques in Europe.

“Simon is one of the most respected names in the secondaries space in London and he has built a strong reputation advising the biggest investment managers and global funds on their cross-border transactions. We are delighted to welcome him,” said Weil’s Executive Partner Barry Wolf.

Marco Compagnoni, co-head of Weil’s international Private Equity group said, “Simon brings a huge amount of experience to Weil’s multidisciplinary Private Equity team, particularly on our work with GPs where we are advising on some of the most consequential matters including new avenues for liquidity, an expansion of secondaries work across new asset classes and supporting our clients with increasingly sophisticated portfolio management techniques.”

Weil’s New York-based Private Equity partner Brian Parness added, “We are seeing significant demand in sponsor and secondaries solution transactions both in the US and the UK and are at the forefront of advising our clients on ways to unlock value and devise new deal structures. One thing that was critical for Simon when deciding to join Weil was the firm’s exceptional cross-border asset management and funds platform, just as it was for me when I joined Weil.”

Simon is ranked as a key lawyer in The Legal 500 UK for High Value Private Equity Transactions and at the start of his career he trained and practiced at Weil. He is the third partner to join the London office this year following the arrival of credit finance partner Nicola Noël and private equity infrastructure finance partner Simon Caridia. Last year, Weil significantly expanded its global private equity footprint launching a West Coast practice with several notable private equity dealmakers.
