Yi Zhang is an associate in Weil’s Patent Litigation practice, where he focuses on litigating competitor patent disputes in federal court.
Yi served on the Weil team that recently won a jury verdict of willful infringement for Illumina regarding sequencing technologies, and is currently serving on the Weil team representing Illumina in another competitor patent dispute. Yi has extensive knowledge in chemistry and biological sciences, and is a well-trained scientific researcher who has published a number of peer-reviewed articles.
Yi received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he studied protein biophysics. He received his B.E. in biological engineering from Qingdao University of Science & Technology.
