Max Chu
Max Chu is a counsel in the Corporate Department of the Firm’s Hong Kong office. Max represents public and private companies and private equity sponsors in connection with corporate and transactional matters, including leveraged buyouts, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, growth equity investments and joint ventures.

Prior to joining Weil, Max worked at leading international law firms in Hong Kong and Beijing.

Max is a native Chinese speaker and is fluent in English.

  • The management of Smart Share Global Limited (NASDAQ: EM) in a proposed $325 million take-private transaction in a consortium together with Trustar Capital
  • A global financial sponsor in its sale of a controlling stake in DeltaHealth China Limited to Swire Pacific (HKSE: 0019)
  • The Audit and Risk Committee of Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited (NASDAQ: MLCO), a gaming and resorts company based in Asia, in the repurchase of its shares from a subsidiary of its controlling shareholder, Melco International Development Limited (HK: 0200)
  • Citigroup Asia as financial advisor to the Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Chindata Group (NASDAQ: CD), in the $3.16 billion take-private of Chindata Group, a hyperscale data center company operating in China
  • Mr. Rick Yan (CEO of 51job) and an investor consortium comprising Mr. Yan, DCP Capital Partners II, L.P., and Ocean Link Partners Ltd, in the $4.3 billion take-private of 51job, Inc. (NASDAQ: JOBS), a leading provider of integrated human resource services in China
  • Baring Private Equity Asia (now known as EQT Private Capital Asia) in the sale of HCP Packaging, a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of cosmetics packaging, to The Carlyle Group
  • Apax Funds in their acquisition of the software products business (through asset acquisition) of 3i Infotech Limited (NSE: 3IINFOLTD), an Indian IT solutions company listed on the National Stock Exchange of India Limited
  • The Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Sky Solar Holdings Ltd. (NASDAQ: SKYS), a global renewable power producer in connection with a tender offer process by an offeror group (together with a short-form merger), as well as other strategic alternatives
  • Mr. Ligang Zhang (Founder, Chairman and CEO of iKang Healthcare Group), as a member of the buyer consortium in the $1.5 billion going-private transaction of iKang (NASDAQ: KANG), one of the largest providers in China’s fast-growing private preventive healthcare space
  • Coatue Management in its various investments in TMT companies including ByteDance, Xpeng and Boss Zhipin
  • The Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Nord Anglia Education Inc., a leading global premium schools organization, in connection with its acquisition by a consortium
  • Haier in its $5.4 billion acquisition of GE Appliances unit from GE through an auction process
