Semhar Woldai
Semhar Woldai is counsel in Weil’s Private Funds practice and is based in New York. Semhar participates in the representation of private investment fund sponsors in connection with the formation, structuring and negotiation of their investment funds. She has also participated in the representation of institutional investors in connection with their investments in private equity funds and other private investment funds, and in advising fund sponsors generally with respect to the Federal securities laws, including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.

Semhar received her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, where she served as an Associate Editor for the Osgoode Hall Law Journal, was a competitive mooter in the Corporate/Securities Moot and was the recipient of the Ian Scott Public Interest Fellowship and Legal and Literary Society Honor Award. She received her B.S. from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. Prior to her legal education, Semhar was a senior investment analyst at a multi-national financial services company and completed level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst Program.

Semhar received the 2022 Osgoode Women’s Network (OWN) Mentorship Award in acknowledgement of her contributions to advancing women in law and her efforts to promote OWN’s principles.
