Christopher Henry
Chris Henry is a partner in Weil’s nationwide IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice. A seasoned IP trial lawyer, he counsels clients in high-stakes trade secret and patent litigation before U.S. district courts, the Federal Circuit, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the U.S. International Trade Commission.

Chris represents innovative high technology clients in IP litigation involving a wide variety of technologies, including software, electromechanical devices, medical technologies, and semiconductors. He has advised companies across industries, including the automotive, semiconductor, cybersecurity, virtual reality, social media, and cable television industries, among others.

Chris draws on his extensive trial background and strong oral advocacy skills over more than 15 years of practice to help his clients obtain trial victories, multi-million dollar settlements, and other favorable resolutions.

Notable Experience*

Some of Chris’s major engagements include:

  • Eight kHz, LLC v. Meta Platforms, Inc. (W.D. Tex.): representing Meta in patent infringement case involving 3D audio processing for virtual and augmented reality headsets, as well as inter partes reviews.
  • CertainTeed LLC v. GAF Energy LLC (E.D. Tex., N.D. Tex.): represented CertainTeed in cases involving solar shingle technologies. Matters resolved after CertainTeed successfully defeated a GAF motion for preliminary injunction.
  • Neural Magic, Inc. v. Meta Platforms, Inc. (D. Mass.): represented Meta in trade secret dispute against artificial intelligence startup Neural Magic, Inc.
  • State Farm v. Amazon (D. Del.): represented Amazon in patent and trade secrets case relating to eldercare software products.
  • Latch v. LET Investor Group (S.D.N.Y.; AAA; Virginia): represented Latch in multi-jurisdictional dispute involving trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, and civil RICO claims; complete verdict on contract claims adjudicated in arbitration, litigation favorably resolved after dismissal of Virginia state actions.
  • CardioNet, LLC v. InfoBionic, Inc. (D. Mass.): favorably resolved claims for InfoBionic in suit involving six patents and alleged trade secret misappropriation.
  • Jaguar Land Rover v. Volkswagen Group: favorably resolved actions on Jaguar Land Rover’s behalf in the Eastern District of Virginia, the ITC, and related inter partes reviews.
  • HyperX Networks v. Ciena Corp. (S.D. Fla.): represented Ciena in case relating to provisioning of customer premises equipment. Plaintiff voluntarily dropped its case after Ciena moved to dismiss on multiple grounds, including lack of standing and ownership.
  • Watlow v. Volvo (D.N.J.): defended automobile manufacturer in a patent infringement action involving layered heating systems and related manufacturing processes; successfully invalidated one asserted patent in inter partes review, and district court proceeding resolved favorable after claims related to a second asserted patent were dismissed.
  • Digital Video Receivers and Related Hardware and Software Components (Inv. No. 337-TA-1103): defended a well-known cable television company in a high-stakes ITC action concerning digital video technology.

Chris’s pro bono work includes working with Project Citizenship, an organization that helps eligible immigrants become U.S. citizens.

He has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in Intellectual Property Litigation in Massachusetts (2013-2019, 2022-2023).

Immediately prior to joining Weil, Chris was a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice of another prominent global law firm. He clerked for Judge Henry Coke Morgan Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and served under Magistrate Judge Mary Pat Thynge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
