Weil Profiled as 2022 Law360 Private Equity Practice Group of the Year

Weil has been profiled by Law360 as a 2022 “Private Equity Practice Group of the Year” for advising on numerous high-profile transactions over the past year.

This is the second consecutive year the Firm has received this honor. Weil is just one of five firms to receive this accolade in Law360’s annual series, which recognizes “the attorney teams behind litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry this past year.”

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Ramona Nee, Co-Head of Weil’s U.S. Private Equity practice, said Weil has had to stay nimble and evolve with its clients, “particularly in 2022, responding to all sorts of social and financial factors. Clients looked to us not only to execute the deal but also to provide strategic advice on how to respond to changing conditions and regulatory environments.”

The publication noted that Weil’s Private Equity practice continued to advise longtime clients on major deals in 2022, including Advent International as part of an investor group on the more than $14 billion acquisition of McAfee Corp., which the Financial Times called “one of the largest leveraged buyouts of the year,” and Blackstone Group Inc. in its $1 billion sale of Aqua Finance Inc. to Athene Holding.

Kyle Krpata, Co-Head of Weil’s U.S. Private Equity practice, added, “Internally our partners are more coordinated and invested than they ever have been, as well as engaged and focused on building the group.”

In addition to Weil’s work for some of the largest private equity firms, Law360 noted Weil’s strength in transactions involving special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs). The Weil Private Equity team closed three significant SPAC transactions and announced a fourth in the survey time period. Click here to read Law360’s full profile of Weil’s Private Equity practice.
