Weil has been recognized with three distinguished honors by the New York Law Journal’s New York Legal Awards.
Corporate Department Chairman Michael J. Aiello was named among the “Dealmakers of the Year;” Richard A. Rothman, Special Pro Bono Counsel and former Co-Head of Weil’s Complex Commercial Litigation practice, was honored with a “Lifetime Achievement Award;” and the Firm was selected as the “Litigation Department of the Year” in the Class Actions specialty category.
Michael was honored for advising on numerous market-moving transactions, including Kroger in its $24.6 billion definitive merger agreement with Albertsons Companies and Vonage in its $6.2 billion sale to Ericsson. Richard’s career accomplishments, including his representations of such well-known companies as American Airlines, Reuters and Sanofi, and his work as Special Pro Bono Counsel, were recognized.
The Litigation Department was named the winner in the Class Action Litigation Department of the Year category for the third time in six years, based on securing major victories across practices and offices for multiple clients, including Brookfield Asset Management, Simon & Schuster and Burger King.
The New York Legal Awards honor attorneys who have made a remarkable difference in the legal profession in New York. The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony on October 5 in New York.
