NEW YORK, July 31, 2025: International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that it has expanded its renowned Intellectual Property practice with the addition of three nationally recognized, first-chair trial partners in the Bay Area and Texas.
Doug Lumish, Jeff Homrig and Gabe Gross are leaders in intellectual property, patent, trade secret and other commercial disputes. Doug and Jeff have been named Co-Heads of Weil’s IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice and will anchor the Firm’s growing nationwide technology litigation capabilities. Doug and Gabe will reside in our Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices, and Jeff will be based in Texas.
Doug and Jeff are returning to the Firm after beginning their legal careers at Weil. Both had been resident in Weil’s Silicon Valley office for more than a decade, as integral members of the Firm’s renowned Patent and IP Litigation team. All three partners are highly regarded IP trial lawyers with extensive experience advising top-tier clients in bet-the-company litigation matters. They bring deep experience across the science and technology sectors – including in high tech, biotechnology, life sciences and AI – as well as the ability to handle any IP matter at any phase of litigation.
“We know Doug and Jeff well from their previous work at Weil and are delighted to welcome them and Gabe as true leaders in the field as we continue to expand our capabilities in Texas, California and around the world,” said Weil Executive Partner Barry Wolf. “Together, they will enhance the extraordinary reputation that our Patent Litigation group has built over the years.”
“With this elite team on board, we have a rare opportunity to overtake our competitors and better serve our clients across a broad range of patent, trade secret and other technology and life science-focused engagements,” said David Lender, Co-Chair of Weil’s global Litigation Department. “I am happy to have called both Doug and Jeff my friends and colleagues and know that, with Gabe, they will bring a tremendous builder mindset to the practice. All are first-class trial lawyers who can run cases start to finish, or step in to lead the highest leverage situations.”
“We are excited to welcome our new partners as we continue our growth initiative on the West coast across our core practice groups,” said Kyle Krpata, Co-Head of Weil’s U.S. Private Equity Group who is based in Silicon Valley. “We do things differently at Weil and we’re thrilled to add people like Doug, Jeff and Gabe who will fit in perfectly with our culture and believe in what we’re building.”
“It was a true pleasure working with both Doug and Jeff for many years, and I look forward to calling Gabe a colleague,” said Anne Cappella, a Patent partner in Weil’s Silicon Valley office. “This team brings an exciting vision for the practice and a knowledge of the technology sector that is both broad and deep.”
