Biography

Andrew Kourpanidis
Andrew Kourpanidis is counsel in the Banking & Finance group in London. His practice focuses on infrastructure and leveraged acquisition finance transactions and advising private equity sponsors, financial institutions and corporates on a variety of domestic and cross-border debt and corporate finance transactions.

Prior to joining Weil, Andrew was part of the leveraged finance practice of a magic circle law firm in London.  He has also spent time on secondment in the loan structuring and advisory team at Natwest. Andrew is fluent in English and Italian.

Selected experience includes:

  • Basalt Infrastructure Partners’ lenders on the financing of its take private and subsequent refinancing of Nobina, the largest coach and bus operator in the Nordics
  • Lenders to Vårgrønn (a JV between ENI and HitecVision) on the acquisition of a minority stake in the Dogger Bank wind project
  • Antin Infrastructure Partners on the refinancing of Kisimul Group’s senior facilities
  • Antin Infrastructure Partners on the refinancing of Hesley Group’s senior facilities
  • Igneo Infrastructure Partners’ lenders on the financing of its acquisition of enfinium, the largest pure-play waste-to-energy business in the UK
  • EQT’s Lenders on the acquisition of a majority stake in Covanta, a leading owner and operator of energy-from-waste facilities
  • EQT on the financing of its acquisition of Inexio, a leading provider of fiber-optic internet connection*
  • EQT and OMERS in relation to the refinancing of its TLB and revolving credit facilities to Deutsche Glasfaser, a leading provider of fiber-optic internet connection*
  • Global Infrastructure Partners on the refinancing of its USD$260m RCF and subsequent bridge to bond loan for Vena Energy, a major independent power producer and renewable energy developer in the Asia-Pacific region*
  • Peel Ports’ lenders in relation to the refinancing of its senior term facilities*
  • The financiers to EG Group and TDR Capital in relation to EG Group's bid to acquire ASDA*
  • Pacific Hydro’s lenders in relation to their $670 million global funding portfolio*
  • Palisade Investment Partners on its successful bid to become operator of the Sunshine Coast Airport and commercial partner in the associated development of its new runway and related facilities*
