Weil was honored with the Trailblazer Award for Corporate Social Responsibility at the fifth annual Read Alliance Youth Summit 2023, distinguishing Weil’s commitment to engaging as a responsible corporate citizen in the communities where we live and work.

“The Power of YOUth Summit: Celebrating the Leaders of Today,” a full-day event that took place on August 11, brought together READ Teen Leaders across the five boroughs of New York and beyond to commemorate the culmination of their meaningful summer employment and participation in leadership programming. The Summit also served as an opportunity to honor the Teen Leaders on their success as literacy role models for striving young readers.

Weil has partnered with the Read Alliance for several years, with attorneys doing both pro bono legal work as well as general volunteerism work with the organization. Weil Head of Mergers & Acquisitions Michael Lubowitz is a member of the Alliance’s Board of Directors.

Read Alliance works to accelerate the educational trajectory of early elementary students by hiring teen mentors to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring in underserved communities. Since 2000, Read Alliance has improved the reading skills of more than 15,000 striving young readers while having provided meaningful paid employment and job experience to more than 13,000 mentors.
