Caroline Zalka

Following her recognition as North America Securities Lawyer of the Year at the 2026 Women in Business Law Americas Awards, Caroline Zalka, Head of Weil’s Securities Litigation practice, was featured in a wide-ranging Q&A with The Lawyer’s Eve Erskine.

Caroline discussed her remarkable career trajectory – from building her practice amid the fallout of the financial crisis after joining Weil in 2005, to leading the Firm’s premier bench of securities litigators representing global household names like Lululemon, Warner Bros. Discovery and Estée Lauder.

Caroline also shared valuable insights on her collaborative approach to client service, the evolving impact of artificial intelligence on public disclosures and securities litigation, and her proudest recent victory: successfully defending a landmark Section 16(b) derivative action through the Southern District of New York and the Second Circuit. She also reflected on the mentorship that shaped her early career, her passion for elevating the next generation of lawyers and why she draws inspiration from tennis superstar Roger Federer’s resilient “next-point” mindset.

“Federer says that whatever game you’re playing in life, sometimes you’re going to lose a point or a match. But that’s just one point, or one match,” said Caroline. “If you lose a point, it’s behind you. If you lose a round in litigation, it’s your mindset that matters. You’ve got to always look forward to the next point.”
