Ric Macchiaroli
Ric Macchiaroli is an experienced litigator and Intellectual Property attorney who focuses his practice on Section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights before U.S. Customs. He has extensive experience with all phases of Section 337 litigation, and has represented complainants, respondents, and third parties in nearly 60 Section 337 investigations before the ITC, involving a wide range of technologies across numerous industries. Ric also has experience representing companies before US Customs and the Court of International Trade related to the enforcement of ITC exclusion orders.
Ric has been recognized on numerous occasions by leading intellectual property publications, including by Patexia who named him a “Top 100 Most Active ITC Attorney” on its ITC Intelligence Report and as a “Best Performing ITC Attorney.” Ric co-authored the chapter on Section 337 Litigation Strategies in the ABA’s Patent Litigation Strategies Handbook (Fifth Ed.) Ric is also a member of the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association.
In addition to his IP Litigation practice, Ric maintains an active pro bono docket focused on housing issues in the District of Columbia.

- Seven parties in multi-patent ITC investigation and parallel District Court action involving networking technology. Obtained full victory following trial and Commission review.
- A major medical device company in two trade secret-based ITC investigations involving medical device technology. Obtained highly favorable settlement after win at trial.
- One of the largest consumer product companies in multi-patent ITC investigation, District Court, US Customs, and Court of International Trade. Obtained complete victory.
