Morton's practice focused on trying business, commercial, and taxation disputes (civil and criminal) in federal and state courts.
Morton is a former United States Attorney for the Southern District of Texas, having served under President Lyndon Johnson. In that position, he was active in many civil and criminal trials involving nationally known companies and individuals. Morton contributed to various sections of a Department of Justice Manual for Criminal Tax Trials. He was formerly a permanent member of the Fifth Circuit Judicial Conference. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy for three years of active duty and is now retired from the U.S. Naval Service.
