Joseph Lee
Joseph H. Lee is a partner in Weil’s IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice. A trained mechanical engineer and former software developer, Joe represents a wide range of technology companies, including those involved in the Internet, semiconductor, networking, telecommunications and software industries, across all phases of IP litigation in courts around the country, from initial case strategy, through discovery and motion practice, and at trial.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Joe acquired broad experience in the science and technology industries, where he developed and supported both new internet technology applications and custom database applications, and designed, developed and tested communication satellite systems.

  • Intellectual Ventures v. Capital One (E.D. Va.): represents defendant in five-patent infringement action*
  • TransPerfect v. MotionPoint (N.D. Cal.): represents TransPerfect in multi-patent infringement action involving website translation technology*
  • InCom v. The Walt Disney Co. (C.D. Cal.): represent defendant in multi-patent infringement action involving RFID devices*
  • Convolve v. Hitachi (N.D. Cal.): represent defendant in patent infringement action involving hard disk drive acoustics management technology*
  • Micron v. Rambus (N.D. Cal.): represented plaintiff in patent infringement, fraud, and equitable estoppel proceedings involving memory interface technology
  • Scientific-Atlanta v. Personalized Media Communications (N.D. Ga.): represented defendant in patent infringement and licensing action involving networking, encryption, and content-delivery systems in the cable industry
  • Database Structures, Inc. v. Oracle (S.D. Cal.): represented defendant in patent infringement action involving compression technology in database systems
  • Sorensen v. Lexar (N.D. Cal.): represented defendant in patent infringement action involving manufacture of USB memory devices
  • Catch Curve v. Callwave (C.D. Cal.): represented defendant in patent infringement suit involving internet telephony services

After graduating law school, Joe spent the first six years of his career practicing at Weil. He went on to practice at several other leading international law firms before rejoining the Firm.

During law school, Joe served as an extern for the Honorable Gerald E. Lynch, United States District Court, Southern District of New York and for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York.
