International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that leading corporate attorney Shu Du will join the Firm as a partner in the Corporate practice, based in Hong Kong.

With Shu’s arrival, Weil is launching its Asia Capital Markets practice, significantly expanding the Firm’s capabilities in the region. The launch broadens Weil’s global Corporate platform and further strengthens its transactional offering across Asia-Pacific. Shu is the latest in a series of high-caliber lateral partners to join Weil as the Firm continues to invest in exceptional talent across priority practices and markets globally, with several additional partner arrivals expected in the coming weeks.

“Asia is an important part of Weil’s global strategy, and Shu’s arrival represents an important step in the continued growth of our platform in the region,” said Gary Holtzer, the partner on Weil’s Management Committee overseeing Asia strategy. “Establishing an on-the-ground Capital Markets capability in Asia further connects our global platform with clients and opportunities across Asia-Pacific and enhances our ability to support clients on their most sophisticated cross-border matters. We see significant opportunities ahead and intend to continue investing in exceptional talent and strategically expanding our capabilities across the region.”

Shu joins Weil from a leading global law firm, where she served as head of its Beijing office and built a distinguished practice advising major companies, financial institutions and private equity sponsors on high-profile transactions across the region. She represents corporate clients, investment banks and private equity funds on a broad range of capital markets and corporate matters, including securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions.

“Shu is one of the most highly regarded corporate attorneys in the Greater China market, with an outstanding reputation for advising leading companies, financial institutions and sponsors on their most important transactions,” said Weil Executive Partner Barry Wolf. “She brings exceptional experience across a wide range of capital markets and M&A matters, as well as deep and longstanding relationships with many of China’s leading companies. We are thrilled to welcome Shu to Weil and to have her lead our new Asia Capital Markets practice.”

“Weil has an exceptional global Corporate platform and a longstanding reputation for handling sophisticated transactions in Greater China and around the world,” said Shu. “The Firm’s cross-border capabilities, collaborative culture and deep knowledge of the region, together with its commitment to continued growth, provide an ideal platform for me to further grow my practice and serve our clients. I look forward to working alongside my new colleagues to deliver seamless, globally connected counsel.”

Shu has received numerous industry recognitions for her work. She has been selected for inclusion in Chambers Global and Chambers Greater China Region, including in 2025 for her equity capital markets work. She was also named one of Asian Legal Business’ Dealmakers of Asia in 2023 and 2025 and, in 2025, was recognized by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific as a Next Generation Partner for Equity Capital Markets and Corporate/M&A and by IFLR1000 as a Highly Regarded lawyer for Capital Markets: Equity and Corporate and M&A.
