Biography
Dr. Manuel Schmutzler is associate in the Private Equity practice of the Munich office. He advises financial sponsors and strategic investors on cross-border and domestic M&A transactions with a focus on private equity transactions and general corporate law matters. He also frequently advises clients in corporate restructurings, carve-outs as well as venture capital and growth investments.
Prior to joining Weil, Manuel worked as a lawyer in a major international law firm.
Manuel has advised on a number of transactions including:
- Acrotec (a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group) on the acquisition of Mebus MIM-Technik, a specialist in molding technology for the production of surgical instruments*
- Airbus Ventures on its Series B and C investments in Quantum Systems, a drone manufacturer and aerial data intelligence company*
- Alat on the acquisition of a stake in TK Elevator and the establishment of a joint venture*
- Ara Partners on the acquisition of a majority stake in Microtec, an innovator in advanced micronization technology*
- Ardian on the acquisition of a majority stake in LIFTKET Group, a supplier of electric chain hoists and control systems*
- Bain Capital on the acquisition of House of HR, an HR services provider*
- Chequers Capital on the acquisition of Nayak-LM, an aircraft safety and line maintenance provider*
- Deutsche Bank and Orchard Global Asset Management on the sale of HIT Holzindustrie Torgau to Mercer International Inc.*
- Dwins (Finanzguru) on its Series B investment round*
- EMZ Partners on the acquisition of a minority stake in Wishcard, a provider of multi-brand gift vouchers and gift cards*

Manuel studied law at the University of Bayreuth (law degree 2017) and earned his doctorate from the University of Bayreuth (2020). After completing his legal clerkship in Munich and London, he was admitted to practice in Germany in 2022.
Manuel is fluent in German and English.
