Kara Hafermalz is an associate in the Restructuring Department of Weil’s New York office.
Kara received her B.S. in Biology and Psychology from the University of Georgia. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law where she served as Lead Submissions Editor for the Journal of Law and Politics and as Co-Director of the Peer Advisor Program. Upon graduation, Kara received the Class of 2023 Pro Bono Award. Kara maintains an active pro bono practice, including intake work on behalf of the Innocence Project and assisting low-income New Yorkers with applying for rental arrears assistance.

- Mobileum, Inc., a leading global provider of telecom analytics and network solutions, in connection with its prepackaged chapter 11 cases with approximately $628 million in debt obligations.
- Steward Health Care System LLC, the largest private, physician-owned for-profit healthcare network in the United States with over $8 billion in debt obligations ($7 billion of which is in long-term lease commitments), in its chapter 11 cases.
- Tradesmen International LLC, an industry leader in skilled trades staffing, in connection with an out-of-court financial restructuring that significantly reduced the company’s debt and raised new equity capital.
- Core Scientific, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency mining and hosting companies with approximately $1 billion in debt in evaluating strategic options in light of falling Bitcoin prices and other headwinds in cryptocurrency industry.
