Biography

David Markman
David Markman is a partner in Weil’s Technology & IP Transactions practice and is based in Los Angeles. David represents entertainment companies in all aspects of their business operations, with a focus on transactional matters involving project acquisition, financing, distribution, and sales. He also serves as production counsel, negotiating with above-the-line and below-the-line talent for television and film projects.

He advises a broad range of clients, including traditional production companies, new media entities, and individual creatives such as writers, actors, directors, producers, and showrunners. He also counsels corporate clients on the integration of their brands into television programming, feature films, and music projects, and helps forge strategic collaborations between brands, studios, and production companies to develop branded entertainment content.

David has been recognized by The Legal 500 United States as a “Recommended” lawyer in Media and Entertainment: Transactional (2022–2025) and named to Lawdragon’s 2026 “500 Leading Global IP Lawyers” as well as the “Dealmakers 2025” list by Variety. He has been selected for Variety’s “Dealmakers Impact Report” in 2018, 2020, 2023, and 2024.
