On August 24, 2026, Weil obtained a $50M verdict for plaintiff FICT Limited following a three-week jury trial in Santa Clara Superior Court arising out of a commercial supply dispute. The jury found that Ampere, a California-based semiconductor manufacturing company, breached its long-term agreement with FICT after abruptly terminating the parties’ collaborative arrangements for funding and operating a dedicated substrate manufacturing line. It awarded FICT the maximum damages permitted under the agreement’s limitation-of-liability provision and rejected all of Ampere’s affirmative claims. Weil served as co-lead trial counsel for FICT.
The Weil team representing FICT at trial was led by Bambo Obaro, Co-Managing Partner of Weil’s Silicon Valley office, and Complex Commercial Litigation partner Brian Liegel. The team also included associates Shireen Leung, Camilla Brandfield-Harvey, Katheryn Maldonado, Elly Bergen, Win Hahn, and Jin Cho. Jones Day served as co-lead trial counsel for FICT.
