Weil has been named among Law360’s 2025 “Media & Entertainment Groups of the Year” for winning consequential litigation for major media companies in the past year. The Firm is one of just three recognized nationwide.
The publication highlighted the Firm’s complete appellate victory for Paramount Global against claims brought under the Video Privacy Protection Act and its successful defeat of $150 million royalties claims against SiriusXM.
Intellectual Property & Media Head Benjamin Marks credited the practice’s success to the broad range of Weil’s team, the depth of talent at the associate and partner level and the Firm’s overall versatility.
“There are excellent firms in the space where they have one or two superstars, but they don't have five or six or seven,” Benjamin said.
Highlighting the Firm’s ability to navigate a circuit split in the Paramount appeal, David Yohai, senior partner in Weil’s nationwide Complex Commercial Litigation practice, said the challenge stemmed from the Second Circuit having ruled the other way in a similar case.
“We had to convince the Sixth Circuit to take a different path,” he said.
Law360 also featured the practice’s role in high-stakes litigation for Warner Bros. Discovery and Turner Broadcasting that resulted in a global settlement that allowed Turner to keep producing “Inside the NBA” as well as the Firm’s successful global settlement for A&E Television Networks in its copyright infringement case against Reelz.
