Variety has recognized Benjamin Marks, Head of Weil’s Intellectual Property & Media practice, and Complex Commercial Litigation senior partner David Yohai among Hollywood’s top attorneys in its 2025 “Legal Impact Report,” which recognizes the leading attorneys working in the entertainment industry.
In a profile, Benjamin was noted as “a premier intellectual property lawyer with deep experience handling large-scale copyright and trademark-infringement disputes.” Variety highlighted his work alongside David representing A&E Television Networks in reaching a settlement with REELZ TV over IP theft accusations concerning the show “Live PD.” They also highlighted his representation of Getty Images in AI-related litigation, and Pandora and Sirius XM in finding competitive rates for music rights.
“I don’t think lawyers get enough credit for being problem solvers, and for creative solutions,” he told the publication. “My job is to help solve problems for my clients, and I do that in a lot of different ways.”
Variety highlighted several of David’s representations, including two settlements for Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. – one in a breach of contract suit against the National Basketball Association and another in an antitrust case by Fubo TV related to an upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series. They also highlighted his representation of A&E in the “Live PD” matter.
“My biggest win was resolving the TNT-NBA litigation, the Fubo litigation, the ‘Live PD’ litigation and the ‘Harry Potter’ litigation all in the same eight weeks,” David noted.
