Matthew Beck is an associate in Weil’s IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice. He focuses on patent disputes and complex intellectual property disputes in federal district courts and at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Matthew brings experience from district court and patent office proceedings (inter partes review, post grant review, and ex parte reexamination) spanning a range of technologies, including video codecs, networking, artificial intelligence, oil and gas drilling, and vehicle systems, among others. He has been involved in all aspects of patent office proceedings, from drafting petitions to presenting oral argument. 

Apart from his practice, Matthew is actively involved in Weil’s pro bono initiatives, and career development and mentoring. Matthew currently serves as the chair for the American Bar Association – Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL) High Tech and Software Patent Committee. Prior to joining Weil, Matthew worked at another leading law firm and served as Senior Patent Counsel at Unified Patents, LLC.

Matthew received his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, where he served as a Senior Staffer on the Administrative Law Review, and was the Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society. He earned his B.S. in Computer Science, with a minor in Government and Law, from Lafayette College, where he competed in track and field.
