Biography
Josef Matoussi is an associate in the Banking & Finance practice of the Frankfurt office. He focuses on domestic as well as cross-border transactions, including acquisition finance, real estate finance as well as other financing matters.
Josef studied law at Philipps University of Marburg (law degree 2018) and completed his doctoral thesis (Dr. jur.) in 2023. He completed his legal clerkship in Darmstadt and Frankfurt, working as trainee lawyer in the asset management and corporate departments of two leading US law firms. He was admitted to practice in Germany in 2024.
Since joining Weil, Josef's experience includes advising:
- Foundever Group, a global customer experience outsourcing company, on its German financing arrangements in connection with its holistic recapitalization, reducing debt by nearly $900 million
- Lone Star Funds on the acquisition of ContiTech, the material solutions group of Continental AG, at an enterprise value of €4 billion
- Elevion Group on the acquisition of Techem Solutions, the second largest German provider of heat supply and energy services
- TDR Capital in the sale of NKD Group to Mr Price
- KKR Capital Markets Partners and other lenders on Environmental Resources Management's $1.3 billion amendment and extension
- Glencore on the acquisition of Li-Cycle in CCAA and Chapter 15 Proceedings
- Palladium-backed Kymera International in the financing aspects of its acquisition and full recapitalization of Fiven ASA
Josef is fluent in German and English and conversant in French.
