Eric Namrow
Eric Namrow is the Global Chair of ITC and Cross-Border IP Enforcement and a member of Weil’s nationwide IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice. For nearly 30 years, he has led some of the highest-profile and technically complex IP disputes before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), U.S. district and appellate courts, Customs, and many other important IP venues. His track record before the ITC is unparalleled, encompassing more than 125 investigations, and including more than 40 that have proceeded through trial.

Eric is a nationally recognized leader in ITC litigation and international IP enforcement. He has a deep, comprehensive understanding of the ITC’s unique rules and practice, and he has served as lead counsel in many of the most high-profile ITC cases that have gone through trial and Commission review. Eric recently served as President of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association, the premier organization for ITC practitioners, and currently serves as a member of its Executive Committee. He is regularly named among the top ITC attorneys by leading industry publications. In 2025, Managing Intellectual Property honored Eric as “ITC Practitioner of the Year.” Both Chambers Global and Chambers USA have ranked Eric as a leading lawyer for ITC litigation for several years, noting that clients call him “a true ITC expert,” who “really knows the ITC and is a straight-shooting attorney.” Legal 500 has named Eric a top-ranked “Leading Partner,” stating that he is a “superstar IP lawyer and well respected by the staff at the ITC.” Global Intellectual Property has named Eric an “international IP specialist” who has “an absolute command of the relevant technology” and the “the ability to explain complicated science in a straightforward, simplified manner.” For nearly a decade, IAM Patent 1000 has recognized Eric as among the World’s Leading Patent Professionals, calling him “no stranger to high-stakes litigation” and noting his “particular prowess in matters before the ITC.” Finally, Patexia’s ITC Intelligence Report has included him on each of its “Top 100 Most Active ITC Attorneys” and “Best Performing ITC Attorneys” lists. Eric also frequently speaks and writes on IP and ITC-specific issues, and has taught IP law as an adjunct professor.

More broadly, Eric’s IP experience includes representing clients in IP litigation involving a wide array of technologies in district courts across the United States, where he has litigated and tried patent matters, often in parallel with ITC and other proceedings, as well as trademark, copyright, and trade secret disputes. He also represents clients in appeals before the Federal Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court, as well as mission-critical proceedings before U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Court of International Trade.

  • Represented Fortune 50 technology company in multi-patent ITC investigation involving audio and video encoding/decoding technology, resulting in a full victory after trial and affirmed by the Commission.
  • Represented major medical device company in trade secret investigation at the ITC involving cosmetic treatment, resulting in full victory after ALJ and Commission found no violation.
  • Represented prominent solar power company in multi-patent ITC investigation and U.S. District Court litigation involving complex conductive solar cell technology which resulted in full victory.
  • Represented seven parties in multi-patent ITC investigation and U.S. District Court involving server and network communications technology. Obtained full victory for clients after trial and Commission review.
  • Represented the largest internet-based retailer in the United States in a multi-patent ITC investigation involving a consumer product device.
  • Represented one of world’s largest medical device companies in two trade secret ITC investigations involving bone cement formulation technologies. Obtained highly favorable settlement after win at trial.
  • Represented Fortune 10 company in three ITC investigations involving light emitting diode technology in which opposing party withdrew complaint after receiving our expert reports.

  • Represented one of the world’s largest retail store chains in an ITC investigation involving a trademark on the design of a popular line of shoes, resulting in full victory for client.
  • Represented multiple semiconductor companies in ITC and U.S. District Court actions involving chipset manufacturing technology, resulting in full victory for clients.
  • Represented largest digital TV manufacturer at ITC, U.S. District Court, the Federal Circuit, Customs, and the Court of International Trade in multi-patent case involving video encoding/decoding technology. Won full victory for client.

Eric is active in pro bono work and has handled cases in areas ranging from child welfare, landlord/tenant, and prison reform, to the entertainment industry. He is also involved in his community, serving on the boards of local schools and religious charitable organizations. He is a member of the Federal Circuit Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.

Prior to joining Weil, Eric was a partner at another prominent global law firm, where he led its IP practice in Washington, D.C. and chaired its ITC practice, which was named ITC Practice Group of the Year by Managing IP in 2023 under Eric’s leadership.
