Gus Ipsen
Biography
Some of Gus’s notable experience includes working on Weil teams:
- Representing a global technology company in antitrust and nationwide injunction compliance proceedings in the Northern District of California.
- Securing complete dismissal for an industry-leading cosmetics company from parallel state and federal multi-district mass tort litigations.
- Securing complete dismissal in the Southern District of New York for Warner Bros. Discovery in a privacy suit under the federal Video Privacy Protection Act.
- Securing complete dismissal in California state court for Paramount Global in a privacy suit under the California Invasion of Privacy Act.
- Advising a court-appointed Special Master overseeing the judicial sale of a major energy company, one of the largest such sales in United States history.
Gus also maintains an active pro bono practice. He is heavily involved in a series of Fifth Circuit appeals with the Brennan Center for Justice relating to First Amendment and voting rights issues. And he remains actively involved in the Firm’s work with the Rights Behind Bars, representing a formerly incarcerated individual pursuing Eighth Amendment deliberate indifference claims.
Prior to joining Weil, Gus served as a law clerk to the Hon. Eric N. Vitaliano in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Gus earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School where he was a Notes Editor for the Brooklyn Law Review. Before law school, Gus served as a legislative aide in the New York State Assembly. He earned his B.A. in International Relations from Lehigh University.
