Weil Featured as 2023 Law360 Real Estate Practice Group of the Year

Law360 has honored Weil’s real estate team among its 2023 “Real Estate Practice Groups of the Year” for advising on numerous headline deals over the past twelve months.

The publication noted several large matters on which the Weil real estate team advised, including Micron Technology’s development of a $100 billion semiconductor factory, The Kroger Company’s pending $24.6 billion merger with Albertsons Companies and Brookfield Business Partners’ $8 billion sale of Westinghouse Electric Company. “In a challenging year for the real estate industry, the group’s contributions to these and other projects exemplified its core strength of being able to manage the most complex transactions with a multidisciplinary approach,” Law360 wrote.

Over the past three years, Weil’s Real Estate practice group has advised on more than 190 transactions with a combined value of more than $386 billion, Law360 highlighted.

Practice Head Philip Rosen told the publication that Weil attorneys’ ability to collaborate seamlessly across practice groups and global offices creates top results for clients. “I think that’s way different than many of our competitors,” he said. “Our ‘one firm’ approach is not just a recruiting slogan – it’s a way of operating on a day-to-day basis.”

The article noted how Weil’s holistic approach to real estate leverages expertise from many practice areas, including mergers & acquisitions, antitrust, environmental matters and restructuring. Law360 also highlighted the Firm’s representation of MGM Resorts International and SoftBank Group in WeWork’s restructuring.

“When the economy changes, as it has the last couple of years… Weil is, among many, many people in the industry, the chosen firm to help people work through their restructuring needs, especially real estate,” Philip said. “That expertise applied significantly this past year.”
