Weil has been named a finalist in the “Innovative Lawyers in Disputes” category of the 2026 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America awards.

The Firm was shortlisted for securing a summary judgment for PepsiCo in a plastic pollution public nuisance case in state court in San Mateo, California. The complaint alleged that PepsiCo contributed to plastic pollution by misleadingly promoting recycling and overproducing single-use plastic.

Weil litigators successfully argued that PepsiCo’s recycling-related marketing was expressly authorized under California law and that the plaintiff could not establish that PepsiCo’s conduct caused harm to its property. Judge Amarra Lee agreed, granting summary judgment in PepsiCo’s favor. The case initially named 10 consumer products companies, seven of which reached settlements.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in New York on December 7. A special report will also be published about the honorees in which the Financial Times will detail major trends and changes occurring in the legal sector.
