Restructuring partner and Miami office Co-Managing Partner David J. Cohen has been recognized as one of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s “40 Under 40” for 2026. In its 10th year, the annual award honors insolvency professionals under the age of 40 who are setting the standard for excellence in the field.

David’s accomplishments include representing well-known companies in major restructurings and bankruptcies, including advising Steward Health Care, Aéropostale, The Cannabist Company,  EP Energy, Leafly Holdings, MedMen Enterprises, Nicklaus Companies, Redbox Entertainment, Shutterfly, Topgolf and Westinghouse Electric Company.

David has also been named among The American Lawyer 2026 “Dealmakers of the Year,” one of Law360’s “Rising Stars” for Bankruptcy in 2025 and a lawyer “On the Rise” by the Daily Business Review in 2025.

American Bankruptcy Institute’s 24-person steering committee selected the winners from a pool of nearly 300 nominees from across the restructuring industry. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on December 4 in Palm Desert, California, as part of the organization’s 2026 Winter Leadership Conference.
