Arianna Scavetti, partner in Weil’s Complex Commercial Litigation and Appeals and Strategic Counseling practices, has been featured as a Law360 Product Liability MVP for 2025, one of just three attorneys in the U.S. to receive the honor.
Law360 highlighted her work securing wins for major companies, including Chobani LLC, KeVita Inc. and PepsiCo Inc. claims related to ultra-processed foods, plastic waste and brand labels.
Arianna, in an interview with Law360, said her win for PepsiCo and subsidiary Frito-Lay over plastic waste in the Buffalo River stood out in the past year. She secured the dismissal of the suit by arguing that the state of New York could not hold the company liable for how others dispose of plastic products.
“While everyone agrees that plastic pollution is a challenge and should be addressed, holding a single company or two companies responsible for individuals’ decisions to litter is not the way to address the problem,” she said.
Arianna also told Law360 that helping clients solve problems motivates her and that she feels fortunate to work with some of the largest and most notable food and beverage companies in the country. Asked for her advice for younger attorneys, she recommended that junior lawyers learn all they can about their clients’ business as well as their challenges and goals.
“If you have that broader view, you are going to be a much better adviser to them, and you’ll be able to see how all the pieces fit together,” she said. “That’s how you build the kinds of client partnerships and relationships that last over several years, and that I’ve been fortunate to have with PepsiCo, Tropicana and others.”
