Marsha E. Simms

Marsha Simms retired from the partnership in 2010. Marsha was a partner in the New York office and member of the Corporate group.
Marsha's principal practice areas were bank finance and corporate debt restructuring. She has had over 30 years' experience working with chief financial and legal officers negotiating financings and restructurings, as well as coordinating compliance and day-to-day operating issues, for corporations in the retail, home fashions, art, telecommunications and energy areas.
 

Marsha was recognized as a leading lawyer in the banking and finance field by Euromoney, Chambers Global and Chambers USA.

Marsha is a member of the Council of the American Law Institute, where she serves on the Membership Committee. She served as the Content Officer for the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association in 2010-2011, and was the recipient of the 2010 Jean Allard Glass Cutter Award, given by the Business Law Section to a woman who has cut through barriers to attain high accomplishments in business law. Marsha is also a former Commissioner of the ABA's Commission on Women in the Profession.

Marsha is a member of the Board of Directors of Sotheby’s, one of the world’s largest auctioneers of fine art, where she serves on the Audit Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. She is a trustee of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, where she is the chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Executive and Compensation Committees. Marsha is also an active member of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where she was a Co-Chair of the Board and chairs the Nominating Committee. She is a life trustee of WNET, New York's public television station, where she chaired the Audit Committee and was a member of the Education Committee.
