Agnès de Fortanier
Agnès advises clients on EU competition and regulatory law. She represents international companies before the European Commission (EC) in merger control proceedings, cartels and abuse of dominance investigations, and coordinates multijurisdictional merger and foreign investment control filings for global transactions.
Prior to joining Weil, Agnès practiced in a US firm in Paris and London. She also completed a secondment supporting PAI’s legal teams in all competition and foreign investment control law related matters.
Representative experience, including from her previous firm, includes advising:
- PAI Partners on the acquisitions of Alvest, Motel One, Nuzoa, Orion (multiple merger control filings including EC filing, and FDI filings), and its portcos Vamed Care and Areas for build-ups (including a merger control French Phase I with remedies)
- Ares Management on several global antitrust clearances in connection with its $3.7 billion acquisition of GCP
- Odyssey Investment Partners and its portco PIP on FDI clearances in connection with its acquisition of the global protective equipment business of Honeywell (including French Phase II with remedies)
- CVC on FSR, FDI and merger control clearances in connection with its acquisition of Partners in Pet Food
- An engineering group following a dawn raid in the first no-poaching case before the French Competition Authority
- A global e-commerce platform in connection with a consumer protection procedure before the CPC and compliance matters
- L’Oréal on global merger control and FDI clearances in connection with its US$2.5 billion acquisition of Aēsop
- Orange on its €1.8 billion acquisition of VOO, a Belgian telecom operator (EU Phase II clearance)
- TKO, a global leader in sports and entertainment, on a new boxing promotion launch with Sela, a leading entertainment conglomerate.
