Daily Journal has named IP, Technology & Science Litigation Co-Head Doug Lumish and Technology & IP Transactions partner Max Scott among its “Top Intellectual Property Lawyers” in California for 2026.
The publication highlighted Doug’s work securing the reversal of a $600 million patent verdict against Gen Digital at the Federal Circuit and his recent representations of Meta Platforms and Google. Daily Journal noted his practice “centers on high-exposure patent litigation for technology companies navigating some of the most consequential disputes in the field.”
Doug also reflected on why he chose to be an IP litigator when he began practicing law.
“It was the area of law trying the highest stakes and most interesting cases when I came out of law school,” he said. “And that has stayed true my whole career, thankfully.”
Max, the newspaper wrote, “guides clients through the IP dimensions of multibillion-dollar transactions, with a focus on carveouts and other high-complexity deals.” He also serves as the Firm’s relationship partner for several key clients, Daily Journal noted.
It also highlighted his recent work advising semiconductor companies on licensing and deal structures and various individuals and corporations on name, image and likeness matters.
“‘NIL’ isn't a standalone right in IP and is instead a combination of a bunch of different categories of rights, from trademark to copyright to other personal rights that are dealt with in case law,” he told Daily Journal.
