William Ryan is an associate in Weil’s Securities Litigation practice, where he focuses on M&A litigation and defending securities class actions in state and federal courts. William also serves on teams counseling boards of directors, board committees, and senior management on corporate governance, business, and regulatory matters.
Some of William’s recent experience includes serving on Weil teams representing and advising:
- AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. in litigation in New York state court relating to a dispute between the Company and certain creditors.
- Brookfield Asset Management and certain of its affiliates in a consolidated stockholder derivative action in Delaware Chancery Court arising out of a 2018 private placement and 2020 merger involving TerraForm Power, Inc.
- Digital Currency Group, Inc., an investment company focused on the digital currency market and decentralized technologies, and certain executives in a securities fraud class action.
- Gores Holdings V, a SPAC sponsored by The Gores Group, and its former directors and officers in ongoing fiduciary duty litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery related to Gores Holdings V’s merger with Ardagh Metal Packaging S.A.
- Lululemon athletica inc., a clothing retailer, and its senior officers and directors in a securities class action.
- A publicly traded digital asset platform in connection with corporate governance and advisory matters.
- A global investment bank in connection with an international mediation.
William also has a committed pro bono practice. Of late, he has been working with Legal Services of New York to represent immigrants and refugees in connection with their Adjustment of Status Applications, and the Public International Law & Policy Group in connection with assisting Ukrainian prosecutors with investigating and prosecuting war crimes.
William received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California Berkeley, where he graduated cum laude with departmental High Honors.
