Rachel Rolnick is a senior associate in Weil’s Securities Litigation practice, where she focuses on complex civil litigation matters in state and federal court, including securities litigations, commodities class actions, and contract disputes. Her practice also has included international arbitration proceedings and bankruptcy court proceedings, as well as government investigations. Rachel has deep experience in the financial services, commodities, and public company sectors.
Representative Experience*
- Digital asset venture capital firm Digital Currency Group and certain executives in a high-stakes securities fraud class action in Connecticut federal court stemming from an alleged scheme to conceal an impending loss, and a related action challenging representations about a subsidiary’s solvency.
- A portfolio company of French private equity firm in a class action in the Delaware Court of Chancery, alleging breach of fiduciary duty claims relating to the portfolio company’s acquisition of the minority shares of a Delaware corporation in which the portfolio company owned a controlling interest.
- Barclays Bank plc and Barclays plc in multiple actions brought in connection with Barclays’ sale of unregistered securities and the related cessation of ETN issuances in March 2022.
- UBS AG in a nearly decade-long DOJ investigation and litigation alleging that UBS violated FIRREA in connection with $41 billion of residential mortgage-backed securities, ultimately resulting in a $1.435 billion settlement.
- Louis Dreyfus Commodities LLC, one of the world’s largest cotton merchandisers, in a high-profile class action asserting claims against LDC and its affiliates for alleged manipulation and monopolization of the cotton futures market during the summer of 2011.
Rachel also has an active pro bono practice, including a variety of religious liberty litigations, as well as work with the Innocence Project in civil litigation matters.
Prior to joining Weil, Rachel worked at another prominent global law firm.
Rachel received her J.D. from Yale Law School and her B.A. from Yeshiva University.
