Biography

Marc Silberberg
Marc Silberberg is a partner in Weil’s Tax Department and is based in New York. His practice focuses principally on the structuring and negotiation of mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings on behalf of publicly traded companies, closely held companies, and private equity funds and their portfolio companies.

Mr. Silberberg has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association Tax Section and as a co-chair of its Committees on Investment Funds, Pass-Through Entities, and Tax Accounting. He is a frequent lecturer and panelist on federal income tax matters.

Mr. Silberberg is consistently recognized as a leading Tax lawyer by Chambers USABest Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers and is recognized as a “Bankruptcy Tax Specialistby Turnarounds & Workouts magazine. In Chambers USA, clients note he is “excellent and pragmatic in tax planning, and explains complicated tax concepts in straightforward language,” is “very thorough, aware of the client’s potential points of exposure and very realistic,” and “a strong technical tax guy in the M&A and international area.” He is also recommended for US Taxes: Non-Contentious by Legal 500 US, where clients note he is “able to structure very complicated transactions resulting in significant tax savings.” Mr. Silberberg was also named a 2014 Tax “MVP” by Law360.

Mr. Silberberg has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HIAS, a global nonprofit that protects refugees.

Mr. Silberberg received his J.D. and LL.M in taxation from New York University School of Law and his B.A. from Northwestern University.
