Steven has a breadth of finance law experience in the fields of banking, capital markets, structured finance and derivatives. His structured finance experience spans a number of asset types (including consumer assets, CDOs and whole businesses), representing corporate originators, investment bank arrangers, derivative counterparties and bond trustees.
A former real estate lawyer, Steven has extensive expertise in property-related financings, in particular residential and commercial mortgage securitisation and warehouse funding. He also advises clients in the mortgage industry on portfolio sales, acquisitions and other commercial transactions.
More recently, Steven has been actively involved in restructuring and insolvency matters, together with providing crisis management advice to clients.
His career has included lengthy secondments to finance teams at Greenwich NatWest and Lehman Brothers.
Steven speaks fluent Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia, as well as Hokkien, a Chinese dialect.
