Weil has been recognized for its work on the $3.16 billion take-private of Chindata Group Holdings Limited (Chindata Group) by Bain Capital, which has been named “Private Equity Deal of the Year” at the 2024 IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards. The 25th anniversary awards celebrate outstanding accomplishments in “legal innovation in cross-border transactions” in the region.

Weil represented Citigroup Global Markets Asia as Financial Advisor to the Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Chindata Group in connection with the $3.16 billion take-private acquisition of U.S.-listed Chindata Group by Bain Capital. Chindata Group is a leading carrier-neutral hyperscale data center solution provider in Asia-Pacific emerging markets including China, India and Southeast Asia. This complex transaction “offers a model for private equity-backed LBOs in Asia,” according to the judges.

The Weil team involved in the award-winning transaction was led by Hong Kong partner Chris Welty, and included Max Chu and Qi Zhang in Hong Kong and Adé Heyliger in Washington D. C.
