Weil Featured as 2023 Law360 Competition Practice Group of the Year

Weil has been honored by Law360 as a 2023 “Competition Practice Group of the Year” for securing major antitrust wins for clients across the globe. The publication praised the group’s victories on behalf of high-profile clients in 2023, noting that “if a big tech company was fighting a merger challenge last year, there's a good chance they had Weil in their corner.”

Law360 also noted Weil’s success defeating challenges from the Federal Trade Commission against Meta’s acquisition of Within Unlimited and Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard, Inc. Weil steered the Activision merger through review processes across 17 jurisdictions worldwide, which included attaining approval from the U.K.’s Competition Markets Authority, further underscoring the Firm’s seamless coordination among international offices.

“We handled all three of the [Federal Trade Commission's] litigations this year and produced very successful results for both Microsoft and Meta,” Michael Moiseyev, Co-Head of Weil’s U.S. Antitrust practice told Law360. “And we really upped our effort to grow the international piece of our practice, which has really paid dividends over the past year.”

Brianne Kucerik, Co-Head of Weil’s U.S. Antitrust practice, told Law360 that the team’s recent expansion enhances its already impressive capabilities, which are essential given the “heightened antitrust scrutiny in the United States and Europe.”

“We have always been a practice that delivered results for clients in the merger review process in the United States, and we saw the opportunity to grow the practice,” Brianne said. “What distinguishes our group is the depth of our group and experience of our group working on complex matters in front of antitrust agencies.”
