Weil is advising Vitol on the acquisition of a c.35% stake in Saras S.p.A., the owner of the largest single-site refinery in the Mediterranean, from companies owned by members of the Moratti family. Upon completion of the acquisition, Vitol will launch a tender offer for the remaining shares in Saras, which are listed on Euronext Milan. The transaction values the share capital of Saras at approximately €1.7 billion. Vitol, founded in 1966, is one of the largest independent energy marketing and trading companies in the world.
