Candace Arthur

Candace is heralded as one of the top emerging leaders in bankruptcy and restructuring in the U.S., having most recently received recognition as a distinguished practitioner from the American Bankruptcy Institute, Crain’s New York Business, The Deal, Law360,  and Turnarounds & Workouts. She has advised companies on some of the most significant in-court and out-of-court restructurings in recent years, including J.Crew, AMC, Sears, Insys Therapeutics and Breitburn Energy, as well as the secured lenders in Hertz – and has the experience of working on Lehman Brothers, which generated the largest chapter 11 cases in history.

Candace spends considerable time on pro bono matters, guiding individuals in chapter 7 proceedings and advising small businesses in distress.

Adam B. Banks

Adam is a well-regarded oral advocate and appellate lawyer called upon by top global companies such as BTG Pactual, Lehman Brothers, Sanofi and Morgan Stanley to develop trial and appellate strategy and lead their appeals in courts around the United States. He has been recognized as a next-generation talent by many industry publications, including Euromoney and Legal 500, as well as by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.

Adam also maintains an active pro bono practice, with an emphasis of late on representing death row inmates in pursuing post-conviction appeals and habeas petitions. He currently serves as Co-Chair of Weil’s global Diversity Committee.

As Co-Managing Partner of our Washington, D.C. office, Chantale is building upon the office’s continued growth and recent strategic expansion. She is an accomplished trial lawyer who partners with sophisticated clients to navigate their most important legal disputes, whether they involve competitors, consumers, shareholders or their former business partners. Her recent work has tracked some of the most visible and consequential societal and business developments, from the opioid epidemic to Cambridge Analytica to alleged conspiracies in the financial industry.

Chantale has been recognized as a leading national litigator and trial lawyer, including by Corporate Counsel, The National Law Journal and The American Lawyer, and she served for years as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, where she taught an advanced seminar on class action law and practice.

Barry Fishley
