Weil Women's Wisdom: Advice to our Younger Selves 2025

HEAD, U.S. PRIVACY & CYBERSECURITY PARTNER, TECHNOLOGY & IP TRANSACTIONS NEW YORK LAW SCHOOL GRADUATION YEAR 2012 YEAR JOINED WEIL 2011 PROMOTED TO PARTNER 2023 HOMETOWN NEW YORK CITY What was your first job? I worked in theater professionally all the way through college, and for several years following college and prior to law school. I figured out pretty fast that performing was not for me (I should have remembered that when I first decided to be a litigator!), and so I transitioned into producing roles, which I loved. What do you love most about Weil? We’re scrappy and tough and great at what we do. We have each other’s backs, and we bring our whole selves to work. What advice would you give associates trying to make pivotal decisions in their careers? I think one of the hardest but most important things to do is block out the noise of what everyone around you is doing and saying. We’re all looking for validation, and that leads us into the (bad) habit of talking about what “everyone” is doing (see – I just did it!) and what someone “must” do in order to achieve any given goal (or even what that goal should be). What I advise associates is to find the courage to listen to the tiny inner voice that tells them what they actually want, what makes them feel comfortable, happy and fulfilled. You really have to get to know that voice in order to be able to hear it when things get tough or you feel pressured. Did you have mentors and sponsors? What advice would you give to associates seeking out and developing those relationships? Always. Still do. As many as I can get. Make friends with everyone. Be trustworthy in your relationships. Figure out who you can trust, and then let yourself be vulnerable.
