Thomas studied mechanical engineering and applied mechanics before law school and relies on his scientific background when advising clients on new technology. While at the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas won the Francis G. Tatnall Prize for an outstanding project showing ingenuity, proficiency, and usefulness in the Senior Mechanical and Product Design Competition. He assisted in fluid flow visualization, mechanical design, electronics optimization, and fabrication of an autonomous maritime vessel that allowed for better data collection in coastal reef environments.
As a research assistant at Fordham University School of Law, he conducted legal research on the relationship between retracted scientific papers and patent applications, rejections, and amendments pertaining to similar topics. He was a member of the Fordham Law Review and graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif.
Prior to joining Weil, Thomas worked at another law firm.
