Sara Townsend focuses on patent litigation, spanning industries ranging from life sciences to software and other high technologies.
She has experience handling day-to-day discovery matters, drafting dispositive motions and briefs, and preparing for trial. Ms. Townsend has successfully argued a motion to dismiss for non-patentable subject matter. She also has experience in trade secret, copyright, and complex commercial litigation matters. Ms. Townsend has worked pro bono for clients seeking asylum and removal from death row.
Ms. Townsend received her J.D. from Santa Clara University, where she served as Managing Editor of the Santa Clara High Technology Law Journal. Prior to law school, Ms. Townsend was a consulting researcher for the Monterey Bay Aquarium and an analyst for the California Coastal Commission and nongovernmental organizations, where she focused on marine and coastal policy matters.
