Greg Chafuen
Greg Chafuen is an associate in Weil’s White Collar Defense, Regulatory and Investigations practice, resident in the Washington, D.C. office. He focuses his practice on white collar defense, regulatory enforcement proceedings, and government investigations, as well as international trade compliance.

Mr. Chafuen currently serves on a Weil team representing a global pharmaceutical company in connection with a joint DOJ and SEC investigation of alleged violations of the FCPA. He has been a member of Weil teams representing individual clients in connection with various DOJ and SEC investigations, including an individual under a DOJ investigation for allegedly committing tax fraud involving several domestic and foreign entities that he owned or controlled. In connection with cross-border investments and transactions, Mr. Chafuen advises clients regarding the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-bribery laws, sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, export controls, anti-boycott laws, and other international trade and investment matters. In certain transactions involving industries linked to the national security of the United States, Mr. Chafuen has assisted various clients in preparing and submitting notifications to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the Unites States (CFIUS).

Mr. Chafuen received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he was Executive Articles Editor of the Journal of College and University Law, and also holds a Master’s degree from the University of Navarra and a B.A. from the University of Virginia. Prior to joining Weil, Mr. Chafuen served as clerk to Judge Alice M. Batchelder on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is fluent in Spanish.
