Christopher López is counsel in the Business, Finance & Restructuring Department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges' Houston office. He has practiced in the areas of business reorganization and insolvency since 2003.
Mr. López has been involved in a number of significant chapter 11 cases including Paragon Offshore plc, AMR Corporation/American Airlines, Inc., WorldCom, Inc., Enron Corp., Global Crossing Limited, SemGroup, L.P., General Growth Properties, Inc., Express Energy Services, L.P., and International Aluminum Corp.
Mr. López graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. in psychology in 1996. He received his M.A. from Yale in 1999. In 2003, he received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was a member of the Texas International Law Journal and elected permanent class president for the class of 2003.
Mr. López is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association. He is also a member of the Honorable Arthur L. Moller/David B. Foltz, Jr. American Inn of Court. In addition, he has studied cross-border and banking issues in Mexico. Texas Monthly magazine has named Mr. López a "Rising Star" between 2010-2013 and a Super Lawyer* between 2014-2016.
Mr. López is a member of the board of directors of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston.
