Fourteen Weil lawyers aged 40 and under have been commended so far in 2017 for excellence, receiving a total of 23 recognitions from prominent business and legal publications.
Winners have received accolades including “Emerging Leader,” “Outstanding Young Restructuring Attorney” and “Rising Star.” These attorneys are based in Weil’s offices around the United States and their expertise spans the areas of antitrust, bankruptcy, finance, mergers and acquisitions and securities litigation.

2017 Rising Stars
Yehudah Buchweitz is a partner based in New York. He was honored by Fordham Law School with its 2017 “Rising Star” Award in Private Practice which recognizes the extraordinary achievements of distinguished Fordham Law School alumni who have graduated within the past 15 years. Additionally, Mr. Buchweitz was named to Benchmark Litigation’s 2017 “Under 40 Hotlist,” the second consecutive year he has garnered this recognition.
David Gail is an associate based in Dallas. Mr. Gail was named a 2017 “Lawyer on the Rise” by Texas Lawyer. The award is part of Texas Lawyer’s Professional Excellence awards honoring those lawyers who have made their mark on the legal profession in Texas.
Bambo Obaro is an associate based in Silicon Valley. This year, he was named to the 2017 National Bar Association’s “40 Under 40” list, which recognizes the most accomplished legal professionals in the U.S. under 40. Mr. Obaro was honored for his expertise in complex commercial litigation as well as his commitment to pro bono and public service.
David Singh is a partner based in Silicon Valley. He was named a 2017 Law360 “Rising Star” for Class Actions in recognition of his work defending some of the world’s leading companies in significant and high-stakes class action litigation. In addition, Mr. Singh was also named to Benchmark Litigation’s 2017 “Under 40 Hotlist” and named a 2017 “Rising Star” by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.
Heather Viets is a partner in the Banking & Finance practice in New York. She was named a Law360 2017 “Rising Star” for her work advising global financial institutions in complex, multibillion-dollar loans and financial agreements.
Caroline Zalka is a partner based in New York. Over the past year, Ms. Zalka’s work on high-profile matters gained the recognition of colleagues and publications alike. She was named a Law360 2017 “Rising Star.” Additionally, Ms. Zalka was named a “Rising Star” in Litigation at the Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Americas Women in Business Law Awards and was also selected for Benchmark Litigation’s 2017 “Under 40 Hotlist.”
